The purpose of this course is to enable learners with a disability/disabilities or with significant evidence of a disability which impact on their learning to improve their employability and work readiness in a supported environment.

VOCATIONAL TASTERS & WORK EXPERIENCE PLACEMENTS

Vocational Tasters allows learners to gain an understanding and knowledge of an industry. Learners are then able to make a more informed choice of vocational and career paths/options.
Work Experience Placements allows learners to gain first hand experience of working within industries that are relevant to interest and skill level.

 

OUTCOMES

Educational outcomes include entry to open employment and pathways access to other vocational training opportunities. Some examples include:

  • Apprenticeships/Traineeships

CERTIFICATE I IN WORK EDUCATON DETAILS

  • National Code: 22128VIC
  • Units: 6 core + 4 elective
  • Delivery Mode: Classroom, Directed Study, Vocational Tasters and Work Placement
  • Duration: 6 months, 2 days per week (including work placement)
  • Work Placement: 4-8 weeks of work placement must be undertaken as part of the requirements of this qualification
  • Assessment: Written, simulated and work place based practical observations
  • Prior experience: RPL and Credit Transfer is available

 

PRE-REQUISITES

There are no limitations to entry based on age, gender, social or educational background. Participants in the 22128VIC Certificate I in Work Education course will have been identified as having a disability or disabilities.

Learners include those with:

  • Learning disabilities and/or difficulties
  • Developmental delay
  • Psychological disability
  • Sensory disability
