Program Information
Program Delivery
The program will incorporate a variety of educational approaches, including lectures, problem-based learning, team-based learning, case-based learning, and simulation-based learning. It will be delivered through a blended mode, combining face-to-face tutorials and workshops with online learning activities and simulations.Students will need to attend on-site classes and simulations, complete 400 hours of clinical or PEP, and engage in self-directed structured e-learning.
Internal Delivery
The face-to-face component of the program will be delivered through educator-led classroom sessions, totaling 1,030 hours over the course of the program. This includes theory, self-paced structured e-learning, simulation education, and training. Additionally, there are 400 hours of work-based PEP. Simulations are used to review learning activities, practice communication and work-based or clinical skills, develop management skills, and complete assessments such as group and individual presentations.
Students will begin the first semester with a one-week orientation that includes a site tour, program overview, academic and online library orientation, and academic writing and study skills workshops. Beyond the structured learning, students are expected to engage in approximately 10 hours per week of unstructured learning. The program includes 20 contact hours per week, with 16 hours dedicated to face-to-face classroom sessions and 4 hours for self-directed structured e-learning.
Online Digital Delivery
The online digital delivery will be conducted through the MCIE Learning Management System (LMS). This platform offers resources, activities, and announcements for all units and facilitates the submission of certain assessment tasks. The LMS also includes discussion forums and messaging capabilities across units. Students will have access to online video conferencing to support interactions with educators/trainers both during and outside of formal teaching sessions. In addition to the structured face-to-face classroom sessions, students are expected to engage in self-directed structured e-learning and must complete the tasks assigned to them according to the unit session plan.
Workplace Delivery
Students’ training activities take place in the workplace, across various healthcare settings in both metropolitan and rural areas. Professional Experience Placement (PEP) or clinical placement is arranged in collaboration with MCIE’s industry partners.
