Does your Aged Care Centre need Cooks?


At MCIE, we train cooks to work in commercial aged care kitchens and food production units, who are passionate and wants to contribute towards health and wellbeing of elderly. This course has been developed in consultation with experienced Aged Care Cooks and Management to include current knowledge and industry practices.

Our candidates come to your Aged Care Centre with;

  • Introduction to Aged Care Quality standards

  • Aged care kitchen environments including applicable legislations, frameworks, policies and procedures

  • Food safety and HACCP – Food safety plan documentation and maintenance requirements

  • Food nutrition and Quality – including taste, variety and cultural diversity in aged care

  • Introduction to IDDSI framework

  • Infection control

  • Client service requirements including workplace and resident expectations

  • Hands on practical training in MCIE training kitchen

All our candidates come to you with;

  • Successfully completed MCIE Aged Care Cook Training Program
  • Completed SIT30816 Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
  • Food handlers certificate
  • Valid National Police check

Our cooks will come to your centre with a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery and will possess the knowledge and skills to work in kitchens of residential and non-residential aged care centres.

Work rights: Our Aged Care Cook Program graduates hold a valid Student Visa and are eligible to work 40 hours per fortnight. Additionally, during school holidays and once they move to a graduate visa, they can work fulltime.
