Course details
This course has two parts
- Online theory component (must be completed prior to practical assessment) that includes theory assessment
- Practical class 9am – 5pm that includes practical assessment
Components covered in your first aid practical
- How to properly assess an emergency
- Basic anatomy and physiology related to adults, children and infants when assessing cardiovascular conditions
- CPR Techniques on adults, children and infants
- A range of first aid procedures
- Asthma and Anaphylaxis in a workplace environment
- How to manage a medical emergency for bites, respiratory distress, stroke and unconsciousness
- A practical demonstration is conducted on the floor and participants are advised to wear appropriate clothing
First aid Certificate
Each competent participant will receive a statement of attainment as a partial completion of the SIT30821-Certificate III in Commercial Cookery qualification).

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.
The unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
Specific licensing/regulatory requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities.
