This one-day short course is available to study on campus in our Melbourne CBD office with experienced first aid trainers.

This course has two parts
-
Online theory component (must be completed prior to practical assessment) that includes theory assessment

Practical class 9am – 5pm that includes practical assessment
Components covered in your first aid practical

How to properly assess an emergency
-
Basic anatomy and physiology related to adults, children and infants when assessing cardiovascular conditions
-
CPR Techniques on adults, children and infants
-
A range of first aid procedures
-
Asthma and Anaphylaxis in a workplace environment
-
How to manage a medical emergency for bites, respiratory distress, stroke and unconsciousness
-
A practical demonstration is conducted on the floor and participants are advised to wear appropriate clothing
First aid Certificate
Each competent participant will receive a statement of attainment in recognition of their successful completion.
All participants must have completed their online theory and have 100% competency in all three online assessments prior to attending the practical assessment.
Failing to do so will result in participants being refused entry by the trainer on the day of your practical class. Once you have enrolled into your course you will receive a link from us to canvas which will give you access to your online theory assessment. You will be given full instruction once you have successfully enrolled in your course.
This course requires that you are physically capable of performing uninterrupted CPR for at least two minutes on a CPR manikin placed on the floor.
There are no exceptions to this requirement. Students who are unable to satisfy the physical requirements of this course cannot be deemed competent in the unit or issued with a Statement of Attainment.
As this is a high-risk unit there is only a 10min tolerance on late coming, post which the trainer will not permit students to join the training. Retake attempts will cost you $100.00, So please be on time to ensure you do not have to pay the fee to resist the course.

Regulatory
All participants require a Unique Student Identification (USI) number. If you do not have a USI number you can apply for one online at https://www.usi.gov.au/students, or you can give MCIE’s admin staff permission to apply on your behalf.
Digital technology
Students are required to have sufficient digital literacy skills to access online content, enter answers to written questions and communicate with trainers via email, the student portal and the learning management system.
