Curriculum Development Specialist

The Curriculum Development Specialist is responsible for preparing Training and Assessment Strategies, and quality learning and assessment tools for each qualification on MCIE’s Scope of Registration.

An individual holding this position is responsible for ensuring MCIE training and assessment processes follow MCIE’s policies and procedures, is compliant with the Standards for RTOs, ESOS Standards, Skills First funding contract and all relevant legislation. Must ensure the strategies and tools provided to the L&D Departments support quality and compliance initiatives, student engagement, quality program delivery and industry consultation. And must ensure their actions lead to the efficient, ethical, compliant, and viable conduct of MCIE’s Training activities.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Industry Consultation – consult with industry when developing Training and Assessment Strategies

  • Liaise with Curriculum Maintenance Managers.

  • Consult with businesses, business owners and managers when contextualizing assessment instruments to ensure relevance of MCIE’s courses to industry, document and maintain industry consultation documentation.

  • Participate in Industry Sector meetings to share knowledge and gain input to improvements

  • Training and Assessment Strategies (TAS) – Development of new and review existing TAS

  • Follow MICE processes for the development of TAS documentation

  • Ensure all tools provided to support training and delivery services meet the Standards for RTOs, ESOS Standards, Skills First Quality Charter, MCIE Policies and Procedures and all other compliance requirements and the required levels of quality in products and services is achieved.

  • Validation Processes – lead and manage the validation schedules of all departments.

  • Ensure all resources and assessments are reviewed and maintained according to MCIE’s continuous improvement policy.

  • Ensure all continuous improvements are recorded.

  • External and internal audits – provide documentation for and participate in and provide responses to audits:

    • ensure the following are accessible to an auditor: TAS documents

    • evidence of Industry consultation

    • evidence of validation activity

  • Extension to MCIE’s Scope of Registration – prepare required documentation.

  • hold Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116, or equivalent or higher) with TAELLN411 and TAEASS502
  • have a good understanding of the VET industry and The Standards for RTOs 2015
  • have vocational qualifications relevant to area of expertise and at the AQF level delivered
  • be able to demonstrate current industry experience (at least three years)
  • be able to demonstrate VET experience in training international students (advantageous)
  • be a confident and competent classroom trainer, able to assess and submit student results in a timely way
  • have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • have experience developing session plans and learning resources (desired)
  • hold a Working with Children’s Check
